Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Lincoln County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the independent company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query under its own practices. We do not keep a local log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, we retain the message as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our systems receive basic technical details when a page loads:

  • Page-view dates, times, and duration
  • Device type and operating system
  • IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Pages viewed during the visit
  • The referring website, when available

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure site use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic into reports. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how some functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a search request to the selected partner service
  • Maintain performance, availability, and security
  • Find and repair technical faults
  • Understand which resources visitors use
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Lincoln County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official routes maintained by the Lincoln County Sheriff, Wisconsin Circuit Court, Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau, and Wisconsin Public Sex Offender Registry. Wisconsin repository searches, content, and reporting are governed by Wis. Stat. §§ 165.82–165.84, while the Wisconsin Public Records Law at Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31–19.39 governs access to records held by public authorities. Visitor data is not assembled into third-party dossiers or consumer reports. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Independent companies supply the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern submitted queries, retention, and disclosure, and those practices are beyond our control. Review the applicable provider policy before entering information.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Lincoln County offices, Wisconsin agencies, court systems, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal details.

Advertising companies may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a submitted query
  • Advertising networks serving content on these pages
  • Government authorities when valid legal process compels disclosure

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect information in our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If a minor has provided information, contact us so it can be removed.

Your Data Rights

Your rights depend on the law that applies to you. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31–19.39, governs access to records held by Wisconsin government authorities; it does not turn this private site into a public records custodian. Where applicable law provides a right, you may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete eligible personal data
  • Opt out of processing where the law provides that choice
